OnCrew vs Rosie: Which AI Receptionist Fits a Small Trades Business?

Prices last checked on vendor sites: November 1, 2026

20 years in construction and real estate. About Trade AI Stack

OnCrew and Rosie both answer the calls you can't pick up. The AI greets callers in your business name, takes down the job, and sends you the details by text and email. Both start at $49 a month. After that they split. OnCrew is built only for the trades and puts booking and live transfers on its cheapest plan. Rosie serves all kinds of small businesses, gives you more minutes for the money, and keeps calendar booking and transfers for its middle plan. Prices and features were checked on November 1, 2026, on each vendor's own pricing page, feature pages, help center, and terms.

How the overage works, and why it matters

This is the biggest difference between the two, so it's worth doing the math.

OnCrew charges by the minute once you pass your plan. Starter extra minutes cost $0.49 each, and Pro and Multi-Truck extra minutes cost $0.99. Your line keeps answering. OnCrew says hang-ups before anyone speaks, robocalls its filter recognizes, and your own test calls don't count. Alert texts also have a monthly allowance (150 on Starter), then cost $0.05 each.

Rosie moves you up a plan instead. Its terms say that if you go over your plan's minutes in a month, Rosie automatically upgrades you to a higher plan, and you stay there until you downgrade. Rosie bills minutes in 60-second increments and rounds each call up to the next full minute. Read the fees section of the terms too. It says upgrades apply to the current billing period "and at least the subsequent two consecutive billing periods," and downgrades take effect the next billing period. If one busy month could lock you into $149 for a while, ask Rosie in writing how that works before you sign up.

Here's what a month costs at a few call volumes, using only the published prices:

Minutes answered in a month OnCrew (cheapest option) Rosie (cheapest option)
150 $49 (Starter) $49 (Professional)
250 $98 (Starter + 100 extra min) $49 (Professional)
300 $122.50 (Starter + 150 extra min) $149 (Scale)
500 $220.50 (Starter + 350 extra min) $149 (Scale)

Rosie costs less at most volumes. OnCrew Starter only comes out ahead if you land just past Rosie's 250-minute line. At about 355 minutes or more, Rosie Scale is cheaper. Price isn't the whole story, though. See what each plan actually does below.

What you get on the $49 plans

OnCrew Starter includes one AI phone number, alerts to you and 3 other people, 4 live transfer destinations, emergency triage, call recordings and transcripts, and booking on your Google Calendar. Urgent rules are built in for your trade, like water coming in or no heat in bad weather. An urgent call sends a text that starts "OnCrew URGENT" with the caller's name, number, address, and problem. Callers who want a person can be connected to someone on your team.

Rosie Professional includes 250 minutes, message-taking for 2 custom scenarios, appointment links sent by text, spam detection, and a free website chat widget. Every Rosie plan also includes iOS and Android apps, English and Spanish on every call, call summaries and transcripts, email and text notifications, and a Zapier connection. Rosie doesn't book straight onto your calendar until Scale ($149). On Professional, it texts the caller a booking link instead. Live and warm transfers also start on Scale.

So if your $49 needs to book jobs and put an emergency caller through to your cell, OnCrew Starter does that and Rosie Professional doesn't. If messages and a texted booking link are enough, Rosie gives you 100 more minutes for the same price.

Working with Jobber and Housecall Pro

Rosie has a direct Jobber integration on every plan, at no extra charge. Its help center says Rosie looks up each caller by phone number, creates new clients, and adds every call, text, and website chat as a note on the client. The same article says it does not book jobs or appointments in Jobber. Booking goes through your connected calendar. Rosie also lists Housecall Pro, ServiceM8, JobTread, JobNimbus, Workiz, and others among its supported CRMs.

OnCrew sends calls to Jobber through a webhook export. You connect it yourself with Zapier (that needs a paid Zapier plan and a Jobber plan that supports Zapier), or OnCrew's team sets it up with you. Each call lands in Jobber as a new request with the caller, address, urgency, and summary. OnCrew says Housecall Pro connects from its dashboard on Housecall Pro's MAX plan.

If you're on Jobber, Rosie is the easier hookup. If you'd rather send calls through your own automations, OnCrew's webhook also works with Make.

Trial and cancellation

OnCrew gives you 14 days with no credit card to start, and it offers a 30-day money-back guarantee on your first paid month. Plans are month to month, and you cancel from your dashboard. Rosie's trial is 7 days. Its help center says the first charge comes at the end of the trial, and its terms say you need a valid payment method on file for the trial. You can cancel Rosie from your dashboard, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the billing cycle.

Verdict

For a one-truck contractor who wants the AI to book jobs and put emergencies through on a $49 plan, OnCrew Starter is the better fit: 150 minutes, Google Calendar booking, and live transfers, then $0.49 per extra minute. For a shop that answers more calls, or one that runs Jobber and wants every call logged automatically, Rosie gives you more for the money: 250 minutes on Professional ($49) and 1,000 minutes on Scale ($149). Just read Rosie's auto-upgrade terms before you go over your minutes.
